Kara Lynn

Kara and I first met in Jr. high through mutual friends. We have since been reunited via the wonderful world of blogging. Next week, she is leaving to serve an LDS mission in Texas! (my sweet husband served an LDS mission in texas too!) and I couldn't be more thrilled for her!

About a month ago I asked her to help me with a photo assignment by being my model. (and secretly as an excuse to get more time with this lovely girl before she leaves!) As I was editing her photos I kept being drawn to black and white. I think it's because black and white photography is romantic. And Kara is about as romantic as they come. Have you ever heard the expression "she has a light about her" ? thats kara. She has a passion for life, learning, knowledge, and beauty. And it literally shines.

being reunited with Kara adds to my list of many blessings through blogging. I am truly grateful to her example, and will miss her posts dearly while she is gone. But I am so proud to know her and proud that she is serving a mission, sharing her light. She will no doubt be an amazing missionary and I can't wait to hear her experiences as we pen-pal! To better know Kara check out her delightful blog here. To learn more about the message she will be sharing in Texas for 18 months, go here.

Rosemary

Rosemary is in my BYU ward. She is such a sweetheart. The other day she mentioned she was applying for a Broadcast Journalism program. She also mentioned she wasn't sure what kinda of picture to submit. Here's where I embarrassingly had to admit to my eavesdropping (she hadn't been talking to me) but I did it for a good cause:

1. I'm a true believer that pictures say a whole lot about a person. If you want to be taken seriously and proffessionally, you should have a picture that emulates just that.

2. I'm not a professional...yet...but sometimes I can fake it. Nevertheless, i'm always jumping at any opportunity to practice and improve.

3. I really just wanted to become better friends with her and this was my secret way of doing it.

{tee hee he, sneaky me!}

it worked.
we are totally friends now.
and i consider myself ever so lucky.

I mean look at her right?

We had such a fun shoot. We got down to business at the very start, got some great professional "application worthy" pics. Which left us with lots of time to have some fun/artsy shoots.

I think she'd make the cutest news anchor!
{I'd totally watch the news if she were the one sharing it.}

Dear Rosie,

I really had such a fun time snapping shots and getting to know you better! you are such a pretty girl (both inside and out). Best of luck on your application! I think the world of you.

grey day

Today is most certainly not a sunny day here in provo, utah. Call me crazy but I love waking up to that "gloomy" weather feel. I love rainy days, they always come when I need a fresh start.

and I needed one.

Last night I kinda sorta mighta been a grumpy girl.

ok, I was.

I let myself have a bad day. And I maybe wasn't the nicest most reasonable person to be around either. So thank you rain, you were very much needed. And sorry to anyone who might have been a victim of my frowny face. Please forgive me, I'll give you extra smiles next time we cross paths. :)

For now please enjoy these photos that I've neglected for far too long! They are of the lovely Kayla, who's been so patient with my busy/laziness. I almost forgot how pretty she is...

almost.
