a lovely sound

so the other night I went to a local show to see this dashing young man.

his name: Brandon White
his game: music

I would call his sound a mix between Johnny Cash and Rocky Votoloto

(the beautiful girl singing with him is Katie Brandeburg, her voice is like honey and his melts my butter.  what a combo....)

yes...I'm still learning about henry (my camera) and he's still beating me in the game of wits.  I will say it is rather humbling to have an inanimate object out smart you.

I love it when my mistakes and lack of knowledge produce an interesting picture:

If I were some tech savvy gal i'd post all sorts of links so you all could listen to their wonderful work!  But I'm not that girl, so you'll have to do a tad bit of work.  sorry!  but it's worth it!  google them, myspace them, stalk their facebooks.  their lovely music will not disappoint :)

Brandon Scott White
Katie Brandeburg

(and yes, thats a harmonica he's a-playin. harmonicas, so hot these days...)

a poor man's picture frame

i've had this idea a-brewing in my head for some time now.
i love photos!  but i'm tired of the typical picture frame ordeal.
and for the amount of photo's i'd prefer to display, the cost of those frames could be...well...costly.

so here's a poor man's picture frame.
the perfect fix for the starving college student :)

*i believe it will look much better on a wall.  But for now, it will adorn my window.

did i mention...

that i love LOVE love sunflowers.
seriously. someone get married.  and take advantage of these beauties that seem to sprout along the roadside just about EVERYWHERE!  just think of the $$$ you'd save!

self portrait

I'm learn(d)ing!
(hahah thats for you mom :)
my experiment with self timer

attempt #1: a blur. that i kind of fancy

but i think i prefer this one.
headless.
hehe

I'm not sure which i like best.
what say you?

I should have been cleaning my room..

in my attempt to clean up what at first appeared as chaos, i found some beauty in my "mess". I think it says a lot about me (besides that i'm messy).

drum roll please....
introducing: THE MESS!

now take a closer look

(don't fret, i'd never in a million years spend $117 on a swimsuit.  That is the before tag.  The tag before it made it's way to my favorite place: TJ maxx and decided it would only cost $10 :)
oh how i love a good bargain

okay okay...so maybe calling my mess 'art' is a bit of a stretch.
and is sure is easier to live in when clean!

sweet dreams

Ya know how utah’s weather has been a little…rainy?

Ya know how I love love LOVE that!

Well last night was rainyish enough that my room was on the chilly side.

I was more than happy to pull out this treasure to snuggle up in J

Yup, that’s right.

Onesies

With weener dogs on it that say “woof”

Complete with button flap drawers for those little trips to the

loo in the wee hours of the night

wishes & shooting stars

something amazing happened to me the other night.

you know those moments when you make a simple decision that at the time seems so innocent and insignificant.  And then later, something big happens that wouldn't have happened had you not made that little decision?  and you wonder how it all came to be?  I conclude, from these experiences, that there is something inside us that drives us to make those little decisions. Something that knows that little decision will make a big big difference.

the other night a made a little decision that made a big difference.  I went running. at 12:30 in the morning.  It was a short run (on account my parents worry for my safety at such hours).  I ran around the neighborhood and ended up at a nearby park where i usually stop to do abs and stretch.  well this particular night i just plopped to the ground.  sprawled my legs and arms and breathed.  i mean really opened my mouth and welcomed the air.  took out my headphones and looked at the sky.  Within seconds i witnessed the most beautiful shooting star!  19 years on this earth and i'd never seen one before.  apparently there was a meteor shower (i didn't know, i don't watch the news) and within 5 minutes i'd seen 3!!  now anyone who knows me knows i'm a sap.  i can get emotional in a heartbeat.  seeing this wonder was no different.  i was moved by the beauty of it all.  so call me sappy, tears came to my eyes.  i raced home, woke my family, and insisted they come lay outside with me and watch the stars.

i saw about a dozen that night.  and instead of wishes coming to my mind each new star, all i could do was thank God for the wishes and blessings he's already granted and given me. i'm truly lucky, and it didn't take wishing on shooting stars.

it just took seeing one to remind me.

a little decision.
a big difference.

i feel so grateful to my Heavenly Father for letting me witness such a wonder.

sunflowers & weddings

i am L.O.V.ing the wild sunflowers i'm seeing all over town and i can't help but think they'd make the perfect flower for a summer wedding.

speaking of weddings....
i've got mine mapped out.
the....
color.
time.
dress.
ring.
hair.
flowers.
temple.
theme.
invites.
music.
party favors. (is that what they call them at weddings?)
etc.
you name it.  i've thought it out.
i'd say my mind is made, i'm ready to go.
only
one
thing
missing...
....the GROOM.

(pics were taken at A. Steph's when she so kindly let me spend the week and adorned my room with a vase of these beauties :)

item number one BIRTHDAY GIRL

item number one on my list of things to blog about is to wish my dearest and favorite (i've only got one hehehe) sissy a very belated and very happy birthday. This gorgeous gal is 17 years old! holy kansas.

durring a very difficult run last night i was thinking about what i would say in this post (yes, i do that sometimes) and i kept thinking of all the reasons why i love my sis so stinkin much.

Dear sissy,

i hope you know i love you to the moon and back even though you are younger than me and have more curves and got all the good genes in the family. yes, i love you that much that those petty things barely ever provoke a thought. i love you because you are so full of life. so full that sometimes you make me laugh about it. you put passion into every word you say. you are clever and witty and always win at family dinner clever competitions. you are far brighter than i am but i still love you. you have very unique gifts. you have the ability to see people for who they are and love them despite flaws (cause i know you love me too). i could listen to you sing all the day long. and even though you don't always sing for me even when i beg and plead for you to, i still love you. i love that you did marching band. and that you were cool about it. alto sax rocks my dear. i love that you try new things, yes some of them may have been mistakes (clogging, tennis, shot put, ethnic dance). What you do do (dodo heehhe) you do phenomenally (i can't believe i just spelt that right!!) you write stories! thats just plain rad. your style fits you like a glove, your eyes are to die for, your lashes (ok i'm a bit petty) make me jealous. I love that you'll stay up late watching the poor acting in the cheesy sitcoms we've some how taken a liking to. you can mastermind any song within the first couple notes (i love that about you). and you love jones soda + yellow mustangs. and you are my best friend.

sissy, i love you to the moon and back and maybe a couple times around too :)
happy day of birth

xoxoxo sis

below are pics of my birthday present to sissy. she loves loves LOVES jones soda. and she loves her funky shoes. so i thought i'd combine the two. I was so excited when i finished that i gave them to her a month early!
